What Kind of Content Do You Write?

A lot of advice to freelance writers suggests that they should find themselves a niche and only write on subjects they know a lot about. However, when you write content, whatever kind of content that you do write, needs at least some research. If you put in some extra research then you could write about many different subjects. This would mean that you could write articles in many different areas; while still retaining your particular interests in article writing.

When the Blogging Gets Tough

Sometimes blogging is fun and sometimes it gets tough; you don't know what to write about or you don't have enough time for proper blogging. When the blogging gets tough however, bloggers should get blogging. Just lately I have had a series of computer problems, including one complete crash, and a series of health problems, neither of which make for good blogging. I've decided that if I want to get anywhere in the writing world then I have to write better and more often.

Computers and Writing Work

I had some real computer problems last month largely due to a virus. Then I had problems with my connection and had to get someone in to look at it. Now it seems fine but I still have work to catch up with. There are times when I wonder if writing wasn't easier when done with a paper and pen or at best a typewriter.

I have been sat here blogging and working on my website while keeping one eye on Bart Simpson. This program is so surreal that it impinges on my thinking. Of course, I could hit the off switch but I don't thing I'll do that - even though it's distracting and that's why I am blogging Bart.

Writing Work

Writing work is not always easy to get. Just recently a number of people have asked me how I get writing work. I have to admit that only a little of it comes from bidding; most of the paid writing that I do has been more a result of luck and meeting the right people. Of course it always helps that I write understandable English and am careful to proofread. A few people read my blogs and liked what they saw I guess . All the same I have been very lucky in the way I have managed to get writing work.

Being a freelance writer and working from home may seem like the ideal job. There are times when no matter how much you love writing and being a freelance writer that writing is hard work. If you work as a freelance writer then an essential part of the job is research. This becomes heavy weather when material on the subject about which you are writing is hard to find. Still I'd rather be writing than doing something else.
